Kinja'd!!!

I got bored and decided to figure out why my 1963 Gibson guitar amp hasn't been working for the past two years. I retired it because it was completely dead with the fuse intact, good tubes, and new power chord (get it?). After I got it out I plugged it in for shits and gigs and dontcha know it turned on (after tripping the breaker once).

I forgot how darn good that amp sounds. I played it for an hour and everything worked perfectly.

I just can't believe you played a new power chord for an hour.

I love that younger folks are quoting this movie.

While it may be silly and funny to most viewers, it freakishly hits home with anyone who has gigged a lot. I remember watching it with some bandmates shortly after it came out, and a few times we were staring at each other with one of those "how did they know that" look.

I've only gigged in bars, and i completely understand most of what goes on in that movie. Bonus, as a drummer, i have not blown up. Not even once.

I used to have a Gibson G35(sic) with a sweet tremolo circuit. Sounded good naked, and she really sounded sweet with a tube preamp in front. I eventually put an Ibanez UE-400 in front of it, but I didn't really need it.

One time, we played some last minute spring festival. Didn't even have time to ring everyone (this was before cell phones/internet) and told them to show up.

As soon as we figured out that we were the opening act for a Karaoke contest, we stared at each other in disbelief No words were needed. We were just reenacting another scene in that goddamn movie.

Then half way through our set playing to an empty courtyard, we had no choice but t laugh and keep playing.

...And here I sit with dead power tubes in my Peavey. At least I have a stereo chorus Crate laying around. As good as they sound, I'm not sure I'm so happy with tubes.
